Music FAQs

? - I've donated already, how do I get a code to select tracks?
Answer

I'm on it. I'll be sending everyone a code via Facebook Messenger shortly after you've donated on Facebook. For those that have donated already, look for a code by the end of this weekend (Dec. 9). For those donating later on in December, I'll have a code to you very shortly after donating. If you're not on Facebook Messenger, I'll find another way to get you the code via email or something.

? - Can I select the same song on repeat for 10 minutes?
Answer

Yup! You can fill your 10 minutes with whatever tracks you'd like. But know that if you find "the most annoying sound in the world" on Spotify, and play it for 10 minutes....well...okay that would be hilarious. But I will find you.

? - Someone else already picked the song I want. Can I pick it again?
Answer

You bet. 24 hours is a long time...lots of songs, no problems with repeats.

? - Is there any music you hate and don't want to listen to?
Answer

No comment. I fear this info will not be used for good.

? - Will you know who the songs are from while running?
Answer

Yes. I'll be recording your names so that I can hear who the next group of songs are from before they come on. It's actually an effective way to distract yourself from running...think about someone or something else for short period of time.

? - What if my music selections are a bit longer than 10 minutes?
Answer

I'll be taking your song selections and creating individual 10 minute tracks to sync to my devices. So that last track that goes longer than 10 minutes will be shortened a bit.

? - What if my music selections are less than 10 minutes?
Answer

I haven't quite decided yet. I might insert one of my favorite tracks, or I might just pick a song that you did select and replay it until the 10 minutes are reached.

? - What if you finish faster than 24 hours?
Answer

I like where your heads at. As I've allocated 144 slots to cover 24 hours of continuous racing, if I finish sooner I'll find some time to listen to the tracks I didn't get to. Either while on a recovery run, future races, or maybe just relaxing on the beach thinking about how nice it's going to be to never run again.

? - What if you take longer than 24 hours?
Answer

A good question, albeit a bit pessimistic. I haven't decided just yet. I'm thinking that I'll just flip my audio player to "random" and just listen to whatever 10 minute blocks of music happen to load from then on out.

? - How will you play music on a single device for 24 hours?
Answer

I'll have a couple of devices, with playlists setup for each hour. When a single device's battery is getting low, I'll swap over to the next one and pick up with the appropriate playlist.
